How does Fallout New Vegas DLC work?

I am planning on buying the Lonesome Road and Old World Blues DLC for Fallout New Vegas on Xbox. (NOTE: I have already beaten the Battle at Hoover Dam.)

Several questions about DLC:

- When can you start them?

- Where do you start them?

- Are they in a different location (Not in Mojave)

- If so, can you go back and forth between areas?

- How long will they take to complete?

2:you get a quest to go to there location

3:yes they all are

4:Yes but once you start the dlc you are trapped there till you finish it

5:depends how fast you are and what level you are you can spend 10 hours exploring every location or Just running thought the main quest
